My Third Novel's Conclusion, My Heartbreak

My heart begins to break when I think about completing this particular book -- because this narrative has sustained me like no other story I've known. It's both more personal and more universal than my other works. But beyond memory and archetype, it's a cri-de-coeur about needing to become the person one is destined to be. And in the writing, I have met my own life's work, my own fated journey -- having the sense all the while that the pages are suffused with a resonance, an energy, an electrified field that defies explanation. Writers hope and pray to be overtaken by a work in this way -- to be conscripted into passionate service of a profound story. To experience it even once in a lifetime seems a great privilege. I still have several months before this novel is complete, and this constitutes my reprieve. Because I'm not ready for the beauty to end.

Follow-up with ODNI in Light of Apparent Assassination Attempt by the FBI

OIG Hotline, the communication below represents my follow up to the ODNI regarding my FOIA request dated July 11, 2022.  This documentation was copied to your Office today, May 12, 2025, at 12:36 PM Pacific time.

This email is transcribed below for ease of reading.

Most sincerely,

Lane MacWilliams

ODNI FOIA Office, how is your progress regarding this matter?

I will appreciate an update at your earliest convenience.

It appears as though there is an attempt on the part of the CIA, as FBI affiliate, to engage in knowingly falsified law enforcement reporting regarding my family members and myself in order to avoid the provision of FOIA materials in a timely, complete and confidential manner.

I request that the ODNI disallow any such scheme in recognizing the extraordinary delays in materials due to me as a highly honorable American under the Freedom of Information Act.

Furthermore, I express the importance herewith of the timeliness, completeness and confidentiality of the provision of this material in supporting my family members' safety and my own.

Our lives should not be rendered forfeit because of any ODNI conflict of interest surrounding FOIA fulfillment.

Let's ensure that these concerns are answered in the immediate, unredacted, and confidential provision of FOIA materials now due to me.

Thank you for your ethical engagement with this critical matter.

Sincerely yours,

Lane MacWilliams
