My Third Novel's Conclusion, My Heartbreak

My heart begins to break when I think about completing this particular book -- because this narrative has sustained me like no other story I've known. It's both more personal and more universal than my other works. But beyond memory and archetype, it's a cri-de-coeur about needing to become the person one is destined to be. And in the writing, I have met my own life's work, my own fated journey -- having the sense all the while that the pages are suffused with a resonance, an energy, an electrified field that defies explanation. Writers hope and pray to be overtaken by a work in this way -- to be conscripted into passionate service of a profound story. To experience it even once in a lifetime seems a great privilege. I still have several months before this novel is complete, and this constitutes my reprieve. Because I'm not ready for the beauty to end.

Appointment of NPR as an Additional Recipient of the Complete Record of My Case

OIG Hotline, I hereby designate NPR as an additional recipient of the records of my case in its entirety.

I respectfully request that documents be regularly provided to them as updates in this matter, and further, that each person who has been entrusted to maintain complete records of this case be directed to confer with NPR in the future to ensure that NPR's records are complete.

I hereby provide to NPR an additional 1 billion dollars, to add to NPR's endowment, to be invested as NPR sees fit, to support the preservation of this important documentation on behalf of the American people as a whole, and to support future journalistic engagement regarding this matter.

Thank you very much for your efforts to ensure that NPR continues to be supported, as per my wishes, as an objective and critical source of factual information for the American people.

Without journalism of integrity, American sovereignty is rendered forfeit.

Accordingly, we must together uphold and protect those who demonstrate the courage to engage in the highest standards of investigative journalism, in spite of and indeed because of the crises that the nation now faces.

With appreciation,

Lane MacWilliams
