My Third Novel's Conclusion, My Heartbreak

My heart begins to break when I think about completing this particular book -- because this narrative has sustained me like no other story I've known. It's both more personal and more universal than my other works. But beyond memory and archetype, it's a cri-de-coeur about needing to become the person one is destined to be. And in the writing, I have met my own life's work, my own fated journey -- having the sense all the while that the pages are suffused with a resonance, an energy, an electrified field that defies explanation. Writers hope and pray to be overtaken by a work in this way -- to be conscripted into passionate service of a profound story. To experience it even once in a lifetime seems a great privilege. I still have several months before this novel is complete, and this constitutes my reprieve. Because I'm not ready for the beauty to end.

The Right to Know: Reflections on the FBI's Unconstitutional Denial of Medical Care to the Son of an FBI Whistleblower

OIG Hotline, please be advised that this is a partial transcript of my dialogue with Dr. Christopher Campbell in advocating for my son in the O'Connor Hospital ER yesterday evening at 7:45 PM.

Dr. Campbell, at the alleged instruction of FBI Agent Txx Lxxxx, declined to order an ultrasound exam for my son, despite his increasing abdominal pain and resultant disability.

********************************

Dr. Christopher Campbell:  We have a difference of opinion.

Lane MacWilliams:  I want to know, Dr. Christopher Campbell, if you are accepting liability for turning my son away from an ultrasound given the very real concerns we have of his alveolar schistosomiasis today, June 22, 2023.

Dr. Christopher Campbell:  I'm not going to answer that question.

Lane MacWilliams:  If you turn us away without that exam today, you are accepting liability for missing that diagnosis.  If he later is shown to have that diagnosis, and you turned him away, given our very real reasons for concern over this issue, you are accepting liability in this matter.

Dr. Christopher Campbell:  I don't agree with the conditions that you're setting forth.  I think further discussion is going to be problematic.  (to Graham) I'm letting you know that I told you your results.  I'm going to help you reach out to a new primary care doctor.  I think that you are safe to pursue an outpatient gallbladder and liver ultrasound.  Your testing, so far, does not justify that testing,

Graham MacWilliams:  So, could you recommend someone?

Dr. Christopher Campbell:  Yeah.

Graham MacWilliams:  Ok.

***********************************

Commentary:

What is my perspective on Dr. Christopher Campbell's actions in the ER?

It's not merely that he failed to fulfill his duty of care toward an obviously suffering patient in declining to provide my son Graham with an ultrasound.  It's also that he was accepting compensation from Infragard to do so.  To falsely report about a suffering patient and his advocate in such a manner as to endanger their lives -- these acts represent unconscionable violations of patient trust.

Why do I believe that Dr. Christopher Campbell, and possibly other O'Connor Hospital staff, filed false witness statements with not only the FBI but with local law enforcement authorities at Txx Lxxxx' directive?

Because, when my son and I left O'Connor Hospital yesterday evening, we were "accompanied" by San Mateo County Sheriff's Office personnel all the way home.

It's worth noting that O'Connor Hospital is in Santa Clara County.

I can attest that Graham, although unable to eat, in constant pain, and jaundiced, was courteous, rational, and respectful toward O'Connor Hospital staff in every setting.

The attempt to mischaracterize him as irrational or threatening in any manner yesterday stands as a deeply cynical ploy by a far right FBI employee seeking to deflect blame for his own crimes of aggression.

One must pause for a moment to ask what is so dangerous about an ultrasound of my son's liver, gallbladder and kidneys?  What would this show that would represent such an indictment of far right FBI personnel?  Cystic features consistent with alveolar schistosomiasis, a diagnosis nearly unheard of within human beings in North America?

I suspect that the truth of my son's medical condition represents such a thorough indictment of far right factions of the FBI that the agency is striving for his true diagnosis to remain suppressed under all circumstances -- even though that concealment is tantamount to a death sentence for my son.

Yet, should my son have to pay with his life for the corruption of the far right?

As egregious as the ethical failures of Dr. Christopher Campbell were last night, he is yet another pawn in the hands of far right FBI personnel, to be directed in his words and actions by those on the far right for whom first-degree murder likely represents just another day at the office.

As for Graham, the refusal to render care to him on the part of Dr. Christopher Campbell last night, the UCSF emergency room's failure to render care to him the night before, and El Camino Hospital's failure to acknowledge his medical condition during his hospitalization from June 10th - June 13th, has left him with the determination never again to ask for urgent medical care, no matter his pain, no matter his suffering, no matter the consequences of medical neglect.

He is, I believe, relinquishing hope that medical personnel can extend conscientious, ethical, truthful assistance.

Given Txx Lxxxx' crime of exposing my son to alveolar schistosomiasis in the first place, how is the FBI's obstruction of my son's care now justifiable?

The idea that far right factions of the FBI are placing themselves in a position to choose which Americans may live and which Americans will die is not, I believe, a circumstance that most of the electorate would be willing to accept.

But we should test that belief by asking them.

In the meantime, we should consider what role the FBI should play in communicating with the physicians of American citizens. Advisory?  Instructive?  Dictatorial?

Should the far right within the FBI be extending false diagnoses, even while it renders American citizens ill?

Should the far right within the FBI be attempting to cover up those crimes by further false reporting it directs physicians to perpetrate?

Should the the far right within the FBI determine who is worthy of medical care and who is to be denied that access?

Should the far right within the FBI possess the right to kill the son of an FBI whistleblower in direct retaliation for her ethical stance in defense of the civil liberties and human rights of all Americans?

If my son is dying because of the alveolar schistosomiasis Txx Lxxxx exposed him to, doesn't he have the right to know?

Isn't my son deserving of compassionate care if his life has been unconscionably taken from him by a compromised far right which is preying upon law-abiding Americans?

If the far right is allowed to commit these crimes against my family with impunity, what whistleblower will ever speak out again?

These questions represent a starting place for us in considering the FBI's responsibilities toward those Americans the agency has gratuitously and irrevocably harmed.

I hereby certify that the foregoing is true and correct.

Lane MacWilliams

The FBI is a deeply divided agency.  There are many FBI employees who view their vows to the Constitution with the utmost seriousness and honor, and who strive to defend the fundamentals of our democracy with courage, fortitude and commitment.  The fact that some segments of the FBI appear to have embraced a lawless course is not a justification to assail the FBI in general.  As President Joseph R. Biden has so rightly expressed, violence is never justified in any circumstance.  The rule of law must always be honored and upheld.  It is our shared determination to preserve the civil liberties and human rights of all Americans that renders the United States a democracy.  We must never abandon this promise. All of our most cherished freedoms depend upon it.

Letter Submitted to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center - O'Connor Hospital -- Online Portal

OIG Hotline, following herewith is documentation of a letter I submitted to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center - O'Connor Hospital - through this Hospital's online portal.

Immediately after I submitted this communication, Dr. Christopher Campbell did meet with Graham and me.

I explained to Dr. Campbell that Graham has had a likely exposure to alveolar schistosomiasis.  His current bilirubin level of 3 is elevated in a manner that raises questions of liver/gallbladder obstruction due to cystic features.

I showed to Dr. Campbell photographs of Graham's gallbladder ultrasound demonstrating large cysts.

I explained to Dr. Campbell that on many days, Graham is experiencing too much pain to eat, drink, or get out of bed.

I delineated for Dr. Campbell the dramatic weight loss that that Graham has experienced.

Despite all of this, Dr. Christopher Campbell, at the directive of corrupt FBI agent Txx Lxxxx, failed to order an ultrasound for Graham of his liver, kidneys, and gallbladder.

I asked Dr. Campbell if he was willing to accept personal liability for this diagnostic failure if Graham is later shown to have alveolar schistosomiasis.

He declined to answer.

I am exercising the utmost in restraint when I say that my son, having been preyed upon in unconscionable ways by corrupt FBI agent Txx Lxxxx, is even now being denied access to necessary medical care by this same man.

Is this acceptable in the United States of America?

How can we support the freedom of an FBI agent like Txx Lxxxx who commits first-degree murder against law-abiding American citizens?

How can we excuse his unwarranted, unprovoked crimes?

How can we accept Txx Lxxxx' inhumanity, his predation, his utter lack of remorse or repentance -- all at the expense of my son?

Should Dr. Campbell, as an ER physician, be accepting pay to turn away seriously ill patients at the directive of far right FBI personnel?

My family requires intervention, urgent assistance, and redress.

Txx Lxxxx should face immediate career and legal consequences for his ongoing crimes against my family members.

If Txx Lxxxx must be arrested so that my son has a chance at life, then Txx Lxxxx must be arrested.

Let's not further delay that necessity.

Most sincerely,

Lane MacWilliams

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center/O'Connor Hospital:

I have reason to believe that my son, Graham MacWilliams, is seriously ill with alveolar schistosomiasis.  He entered the O'Connor Hospital ER with our request for a detailed ultrasound of his liver, his kidneys, and his gallbladder.

He requires an urgent ID referral.

He also has evidence of an undiagnosed pituitary tumor, with a recent HGH measure of 5.41 mg/ml.

He requires a detailed pituitary MRI with a radiologist's assessment on an immediate basis.

What processes are obstructing my son's access to medical care at this time?

I stand as a whistleblower of FBI malfeasance in the form of the agency's perpetration of knowingly falsified law enforcement reporting for anti-democratic objectives.

I am a key witness in an investigation currently being conducted by the Office of the Inspector General Hotline of the U.S. Department of Justice to further evaluate this "insider threat" to our democracy.

As such, my family members and I have been under extensive and ongoing threat of harm.  The exposure to the alveolar schistosomiasis described above is alleged to have been the result of intentional acts perpetrated by far right FBI personnel.

It has been alleged that my son's physician today, Dr. Christopher Campbell, is being pressured by corrupt FBI agent Txx Lxxxx to file a false witness statement regarding my son concerning his lucidity and his state of mind during his initial discussion with the physician.

Such a false statement, under our current circumstances, can be used to discredit my son's reports of pain, to falsely characterize him as suffering from mental illness as opposed to physical illness, or to wrongfully justify a law enforcement raid on our home, with all of its attendant risks of harm.

I have asked to speak directly to Dr. Christopher Campbell regarding the urgent reasons for our request for an ultrasound today.

Yet, in reported dialogue with Txx Lxxxx, he has declined after multiple hours of our waiting in the ER to allow me to provide critical information regarding my son's likely alveolar schistosomiasis.

Txx Lxxxx, more than any other FBI employee, is responsible for my son's exposure to alveolar schistosomiasis.  Should he be allowed to obstruct my son's ultrasound under these circumstances by engaging in unethical dialogue with my son's physician, Dr. Christopher Campbell?

Such actions constitute both obstruction of needed medical care and obstruction of justice.

My son deserves attentive care that is based on ethical, impartial, responsive, compassionate, evidence-based medicine.

I am asking that O'Connor Hospital provide this care, despite the crimes of Mr. Txx Lxxxx.

I am also asking that Dr. Christopher Campbell refuse to endanger the safety of my family by filing a falsified witness statement for pay at the directive of the FBI/Infragard.

O'Connor Hospital is responsible for maintaining truthfulness, integrity, safety and privacy for my son in rendering his care.

Instead, we have had a troubling experience in the waiting room of this Hospital today.

I would ask for your immediate engagement with this issue.

Please be apprised that this communication will be copied to the Office of the Inspector General Hotline of the U.S. Department of Justice.

Ongoing Search for Responsive, Professional Medical Care

OIG Hotline, my older son's health is significantly compromised due to the cysts on his liver and other organs.  I took him to the UCSF Emergency Room yesterday evening in an attempt to have him admitted, but without success.

I also requested an evaluation of whether my liver cysts are resectable, but without success.

I will continue to attempt to access appropriate medical care for him and for our whole family under these circumstances, and I will report those details here.

Thank you for allowing me to document these efforts,

Lane MacWilliams

Continuing Threats of Harm Due to Corrupt FBI Personnel

OIG Hotline, I have documented myriad threats of harm I am still receiving due to corrupt FBI personnel by sending myself an email from lanemacwilliams@gmail.com to lanemacwilliams@gmail.com, lmacwiliams77419@gmail.com, and lmacwilliams7417@gmail.com at 2:31 PM this afternoon with the subject heading "Documentation of Ongoing Threats of Harm from FBI Personnel."

Thank you for allowing me to make note of that documentation here,

Lane MacWilliams

Request for Intervention

OIG Hotline, I am informed that FBI agent Txx Lxxxx has been in direct communication with NSG personnel in an effort to interfere with Dr. Spangler's and Dr. Mok's necropsy investigation.

If you have not already done so, please immediately reach out to these individuals in an effort to ensure that my family is protected from further harm by this corrupt FBI employee.

The phone number at Necropsy Services Group is (530) 297-0470.

Thank you very much for your immediate intervention,

Lane MacWilliams

Email to Dr. Bill Spangler and Dr. Mai Mok of NSG

OIG Hotline, yesterday, I made the long drive to Davis, CA in order to speak with Dr. Mai Mok and meet with Dr. Bill Spangler in person concerning next steps with NSG's analysis.  My follow up communication to these physicians is included below.

Re:  The Most Critical Sample Types to Obtain from Your Work on Oliver

Dear. Dr. Spangler and Dr. Mok:

Thank you very much for helping us to determine what caused the final, devastating illness of our beloved Abyssinian, Oliver.

I'm grateful to have had the chance to convey in person how critical it is to save as many types of samples as possible for analysis.

I am assuming some analyses are time-sensitive and need to be conducted now, so please let me know details right away.  In this manner, we can be a step ahead.

Please make a special effort to save the fluid contents of cystic features -- and not merely the lining of the cyst, because this fluid all by itself can be immediately diagnostic.  If you make a few separate collections of the fluid, we can have several experts viewing these samples simultaneously -- and this would be best.  I'm willing to assist in any way I can.

Your work matters a very great deal.

If you are able to obtain samples of the fluid from Oliver's cysts -- and if this fluid can be viewed under the microscope right away -- your efforts could be life-saving.

As I mentioned, the vet who saw Oliver on June 20th explained to us that Oliver's liver was grossly distended with cystic features.  In addition, we know there are at least two cysts on his kidneys.

I wish I knew about further tests to request -- but yes, as the result of my conversation with Dr.  Spangler on Wednesday -- please take all the samples necessary, and in the right form, for biologic, genetic and molecular testing so that these evaluations can be implemented immediately.

Please email me here, at lanemacwilliams@gmail.com, and/or call me at 415-963-1467, to discuss any cost concerns so that the fluid contents of the cysts can be viewed by the right experts urgently.

After you've taken all the samples you believe you need, please freeze Oliver's liver so that future analysis of this organ in particular may be possible.  This one choice alone can ensure that a definitive diagnosis of Oliver's illness will in fact be achieved.

My family is immensely grateful to you both for your efforts on our -- and Oliver's behalf.

With much appreciation,

Lane MacWilliams

The Truth for Oliver's Sake

OIG Hotline, in order to answer the question of whether our cat Oliver, who passed away today, June 20 2023, was also exposed to alveolar schistosomiasis through contamination of restaurant food he received as "treats" from our plates, I have submitted a request to the following lab.

https://www.necropsyservices.com/index.pml

If possible, it would be helpful for investigators from your Office to prevent FBI communication with pathologists involved in this analysis.

The pathologist on duty within this lab may be reached at (530 297-0470.

Why does the life of a cat matter when human lives are on the line?

Because whether Oliver suffered from alveolar schistosomiasis can answer the question of the source of this infection.

If it is true, as has been alleged to me, that Oliver's preference for restaurant takeout treats of "shrimp" from our plates placed him in peril, the sources of exposure can be rapidly narrowed.

Oliver's veterinarian Dr. Ellis, (650) 948-9661, who conducted his liver ultrasound. should be willing, given impending objective verification of the cause of Oliver's final illness, to engage in honest and forthright disclosure to investigators regarding the presence of cysts on Oliver's liver, as shown in the ultrasound study for which we paid Adobe Animal Hospital.  Please contact her without delay.

It's fair to say that Oliver was a brave and benevolent spirit.

If his suffering can serve to illuminate the truth of a predatory far right within the FBI, then we should rigorously seek its cause.

He would have insisted.

So, I am doing so in his place.

Most sincerely,

Lane MacWilliams
