My Third Novel's Conclusion, My Heartbreak

My heart begins to break when I think about completing this particular book -- because this narrative has sustained me like no other story I've known. It's both more personal and more universal than my other works. But beyond memory and archetype, it's a cri-de-coeur about needing to become the person one is destined to be. And in the writing, I have met my own life's work, my own fated journey -- having the sense all the while that the pages are suffused with a resonance, an energy, an electrified field that defies explanation. Writers hope and pray to be overtaken by a work in this way -- to be conscripted into passionate service of a profound story. To experience it even once in a lifetime seems a great privilege. I still have several months before this novel is complete, and this constitutes my reprieve. Because I'm not ready for the beauty to end.

Supporting Veterans Through Car Donation

OIG Hotline, please be apprised that I am donating my 2010 Buick to a charity for disabled veterans, and my husband plans to donate a 1999 Mercedes ML320 to the same organization, donate.disabledvetscardonation.org.

These vehicles have been unused for a prolonged period of time.

Because of the risk of tampering with the vehicles, either on our property prior to pick up tomorrow, or afterwards, it is important for you to know that the vehicles reflect our honorable and lawful activity at all times.

It would not be difficult for the FBI or its affiliates to place drugs or other illicit substances or documents inside one or both of the vehicles, or to claim that planted evidence was "discovered by chance" when the vehicles were being cleaned by the charity.

As a result, this donation is likely important enough for your Office to be prepared ahead of time for any false reporting that may be associated with our efforts to support veterans through this charitable gift.

Thank you for allowing me to document this information promptly with your Office.

Most sincerely,

Lane MacWilliams
