My Third Novel's Conclusion, My Heartbreak

My heart begins to break when I think about completing this particular book -- because this narrative has sustained me like no other story I've known. It's both more personal and more universal than my other works. But beyond memory and archetype, it's a cri-de-coeur about needing to become the person one is destined to be. And in the writing, I have met my own life's work, my own fated journey -- having the sense all the while that the pages are suffused with a resonance, an energy, an electrified field that defies explanation. Writers hope and pray to be overtaken by a work in this way -- to be conscripted into passionate service of a profound story. To experience it even once in a lifetime seems a great privilege. I still have several months before this novel is complete, and this constitutes my reprieve. Because I'm not ready for the beauty to end.

Let's Return Presidential Powers to the President

OIG Hotline, because I appear to be receiving threats that my older son has been directed today to cause harm to our family, I am publishing herewith his recently signed and notarized affidavit attesting to his loss of sovereignty and our attempts as a family to restore it for him.

It must be said that we are striving to restore the sovereign decision-making capacity of our younger son Duncan MacWilliams and his fiancee Mary Grinnell as well.

In all three cases, President Trump has appeared to grant honorable discharge to my sons and Mary Grinnell, and in all three cases, he appears to have been simply countermanded by the DoD.

As a direct result of this "tale wagging the dog" phenomenon, in which the military has claimed control of the Presidency and is failing to listen to the directives of our Commander in Chief, my family continues to be at risk.

Certainly, I hope that saner heads and wiser counsel will prevail in restoring my family's full health and sovereignty, and, indeed, my own.

That hasn't happened not because President Trump and Kash Patel haven't tried.

It hasn't happened because they are not being obeyed by those within their own chain of command.

The American people, under these circumstances, have the right to question why our elected leaders are not being allowed to justly, wisely, honorably and lawfully lead.

When President Trump determines that all of the JFK documents within the FBI should be released to the American people, he should have his way.

And when President Trump determines to uphold the decision of the Supreme Court to fulfill my FOIA request and providing investigative reports to me in their entirety, he should have his way, too.

All of us need to be concerned when our President is being ignored by the unelected, unappointed, unvetted staff members who prefer to aggregate power within their own interest, in clear contempt for the American people as a whole.

As Eisenhower expressed in 1961, "the potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist."

In the face of this disastrous rise, the American people must insist that the President's powers be returned to the President, and none other.

Most sincerely,

Lane MacWilliams
