My Third Novel's Conclusion, My Heartbreak

My heart begins to break when I think about completing this particular book -- because this narrative has sustained me like no other story I've known. It's both more personal and more universal than my other works. But beyond memory and archetype, it's a cri-de-coeur about needing to become the person one is destined to be. And in the writing, I have met my own life's work, my own fated journey -- having the sense all the while that the pages are suffused with a resonance, an energy, an electrified field that defies explanation. Writers hope and pray to be overtaken by a work in this way -- to be conscripted into passionate service of a profound story. To experience it even once in a lifetime seems a great privilege. I still have several months before this novel is complete, and this constitutes my reprieve. Because I'm not ready for the beauty to end.

Email to the Coconino County Director of Public Health Services, Michele Axlund

Public Health Advisory

Ms. Axlund, as Director of Public Health Services for Coconino County, please be informed that there is an allegation that the FBI directed the dissemination of a dangerous fungal infection, the spores of which were reportedly contained within a substance provided to the Flagstaff Veterinary Hospital recently.

I visited the Flagstaff Veterinary Hospital on April 21, 2026, when we were shown into a room with floors that were soaking wet.  When I commented on this, the administrative assistant, Norma, immediately took us into another room.

Following this visit, I received a threat that the floors had intentionally been contaminated with a fungal pathogen that is resistant to treatment and causes amputations and fatalities for many people and animals, both.

As a result, I followed up immediately with the veterinary office, though I received no reply.

When one of my dogs developed a white fungal infection on one of her paws, noticed yesterday, I emailed the veterinary office again, and have still received no reply.

Please see those communications, here attached.

Should this situation worsen for my dog, should the infection spread to my second dog or to me, I will reach out to you again.

In the meantime, the Flagstaff Veterinary Hospital may have no idea what substance they were asked to disseminate.  If their staff is affected, or if Flagstaff residents and/or domestic pets begin to show resistant fungal infections which cause amputations and fatalities, please treat this communications as an important notification for the community as a whole.

For your information, the Flagstaff Veterinary Hospital is alleged to have received directives pertaining to the dissemination of this pathogen from the FBI or FBI affiliates as part of its "infrastructure" programs.

Even so, I believe that Arizona state laws would prohibit knowing or intentional public harm through this type of active and willful dissemination of disease.

Thank you for allowing me to extend this concern to your Office.

Please reach out to the Office of the Inspector General Hotline of the U.S. Department of Justice with any questions or concerns regarding this matter.

Sincerely yours,

Lane MacWilliams
