OIG Hotline, please be apprised of an email sent to your attention in my gmail account, lanemacwilliams@gmail.com from the same address, with copies sent to lmacwilliams77419@gmail.com and lmacwilliams7417@gmail.com, with a date/time stamp of today, September 8, 2023 at 1:50 AM Pacific time. This communication bears a subject heading beginning with the words "ATTN: OIG Hotline."
Further, please be aware of an apparent attempt to prompt me to call a number in Los Angeles through the following notification, ostensibly from PayPal, though I no longer have a PayPal account.
This apparent order confirmation lists the Order ID as lanemacwilliamss@gmail.com and claims a purchase of "Nortone_360" for $786.
It further states, "Your security subscription has been seamlessly renewed today to ensure top-notch security and services."
At the conclusion of this communication, the following text appears: "Altered your brain? Despite our best efforts, we cannot change your order. To cancel, reach out to our Customer Service for further guidance.
Contact us at: 1-(818)-(491)-(3357)
This communication is listed as originating with Ellie Larson (guiscanecindess@gmail.com) at 7:27 AM this morning, September 8, 2023 and bears the following subject heading: "Payment confirmation product 64395493ref of items."
Clearly, the average person is going to call the 818 number, which I believe would constitute an error contributing to falsified law enforcement reporting perpetrated by the FBI.
Instead of pursuing this route, I will call my credit card companies to ascertain whether a charge for $786 was attempted this morning.
I will update this post with further information.
Most sincerely,
Lane MacWilliams
