My Third Novel's Conclusion, My Heartbreak

My heart begins to break when I think about completing this particular book -- because this narrative has sustained me like no other story I've known. It's both more personal and more universal than my other works. But beyond memory and archetype, it's a cri-de-coeur about needing to become the person one is destined to be. And in the writing, I have met my own life's work, my own fated journey -- having the sense all the while that the pages are suffused with a resonance, an energy, an electrified field that defies explanation. Writers hope and pray to be overtaken by a work in this way -- to be conscripted into passionate service of a profound story. To experience it even once in a lifetime seems a great privilege. I still have several months before this novel is complete, and this constitutes my reprieve. Because I'm not ready for the beauty to end.

Vice President Kamala Harris, I Don't Support Liars

Vice President Kamala Harris, why are you directing my sons to lie about my family in falsely stating that we are in some manner involved in wildlife trafficking and/or "espionage"?

Is it so that you can continue to invade funds awarded in my name by the OIG Hotline and the ODNI to fund your campaign and that of others?

Are the FBI's allegations about your conduct in these matters based in fact?

I'm sorry, but I don't support liars. Not in my household, not in my neighborhood, and not in my nation.

If you have chosen to lie about my family, knowing what we have already wrongfully suffered at the hands of this administration, you have just lost my support.

I expect an apology and a retraction from everyone involved in this debacle, and I expect it now.

I will not tolerate further lies being told about my family members under any circumstances.

And if you are making that choice in order to defraud the United States government through misappropriation of funds, you will be held to full account.

My sons deserve restorative medical care regarding the diseases the FBI and its affiliates intentionally caused them without having to "pay" for that care by lying about their loving and honorable parents.

And any leader who would extract that exchange is manifestly unworthy to guide the nation.

I will not be supporting anyone who directs, advances, formalizes, submits before a court, or profits from lies told about my family.

I hope I make myself clear.
